And what is [the matter] with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, "Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?"

  • The Holy Qur’an, al-Nisaa 4:36

“Serve God, and join not any partners with Him; and do good – to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess.”

  • Sahih Bukhari#2442 :

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said,   A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection .

  • Sahih Bukhari#2444 :

Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle said,   Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked,   O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?   The Prophet said,   By preventing him from oppressing others.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2448 :

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet sent Mu`adh to Yemen and said,   Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2449 :

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said,   Whoever has oppressed another person concerning his reputation or anything else, he should beg him to forgive him before the Day of Resurrection when there will be no money (to compensate for wrong deeds), but if he has good deeds, those good deeds will be taken from him according to his oppression which he has done, and if he has no good deeds, the sins of the oppressed person will be loaded on him.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2454 :

Narrated Salim's father (i.e. `Abdullah): The Prophet said,   Whoever takes a piece of the land of others unjustly, he will sink down the seven earths on the Day of Resurrection.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2458 :

Narrated Um Salama: (the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Apostle heard some people quarreling at the door of his dwelling. He came out and said,   I am only a human being, and opponents come to me (to settle their problems); maybe someone amongst you can present his case more eloquently than the other, whereby I may consider him true and give a verdict in his favour. So, If I give the right of a Muslim to another by mistake, then it is really a portion of (Hell) Fire, he has the option to take or give up (before the Day of Resurrection).

  • Sahih Bukhari#2459 :

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: The Prophet said,   Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2472 :

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said,   While a man was on the way, he found a thorny branch of a tree there on the way and removed it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2474 :

Don't Rob or let Rob anyone. (taking away what belongs to others without their permission), And Don't mutilate (or maim) bodies.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2517 :

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said,   Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will save all the parts of his body from the (Hell) Fire as he has freed the body-parts of the slave. Sa`id bin Marjana said that he narrated that Hadith to `Ali bin Al-Husain and he freed his slave for whom `Abdullah bin Ja`far had offered him ten thousand Dirhams or one-thousand Dinars.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2554 :

Narrated `Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said,   Everyone of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges. The ruler who has authority over people, is a guardian and is responsible for them, a man is a guardian of his family and is responsible for them; a woman is a guardian of her husband's house and children and is responsible for them; a slave ('Abu) is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible for it; so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your charges.

  • Sahih Bukhari#2669:

Narrated Abu Wail: `Abdullah (bin Mas`ud) said,   Whoever takes a (false) oath in order to grab some property (unjustly), Allah will be angry with him when he will meet Him. Allah confirmed that through His Divine Revelation:   Verily! Those who purchase a little gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths . . . they will have a painful punishment.   (3.77) Al-Ash'ath bin Qais came to us and asked, 'What is Abu `Abdur-Rahman (i.e. `Abdullah) telling you? 'We told him what he was narrating to us. He said, 'He was telling the truth; this Divine Verse was revealed in connection with me. There was a dispute between me and another man about something and the case was filed before Allah's Apostle who said, 'Produce your two witnesses or else the defendant is to take an oath.' I said, The defendant will surely take a (false) oath caring for nothing.' The Prophet said, 'Whoever takes a false oath in order to grab (other's) property, then Allah will be angry with him when he will meet Him.' Then Allah revealed its confirmation. Al-Ashath then recited the above Divine Verse.

  • Sahih Bukhari#5973:

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: Allah's Apostle said.   It is one of the greatest sins that a man should curse his parents.   It was asked (by the people),   O Allah's Apostle! How does a man curse his parents?   The Prophet said,   'The man abuses the father of another man and the latter abuses the father of the former and abuses his mother.

  • Sahih Bukhari#5975:

Narrated Al-Mughira: The Prophet said,   Allah has forbidden you ( 1 ) to be undutiful to your mothers (2) to withhold (what you should give) or (3) demand (what you do not deserve), and (4) to bury your daughters alive. And Allah has disliked that (A) you talk too much about others ( B), ask too many questions (in religion), or (C) waste your property.

  • Sahih Bukhari#5977:

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle mentioned the greatest sins or he was asked about the greatest sins. He said,   To join partners in worship with Allah; to kill a soul which Allah has forbidden to kill; and to be undutiful or unkind to one's parents.   The Prophet added,   Shall I inform you of the biggest of the great sins? That is the forged statement or the false witness.   Shu`ba (the sub-narrator) states that most probably the Prophet said,   the false witness.

  • Sahih Bukhari#5984:

Narrated Jubair bin Mut`im: That he heard the Prophet saying,The person who severs the bond of kinship will not enter Paradise.

  • Proverbs 31:8-9 :

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

  • Micah 6:8  :

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

  • Psalm 82:3  :

Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

  • Isaiah 1:17  :

Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.

  • Leviticus 19:33-34  :

When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

  • Romans 13:1-10  :

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

  • Leviticus 19:15  :

You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbour.

  • James 2:1-4   :

My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
